Micaela Decker
BSW, Registered Social Worker (#7235)
It can be difficult for children to work through big emotions, and challenging situations. It can be just as difficult for parents and caregivers to know how to help them manage.
Micaela primarily works from a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) framework focused on developing skills for children so they can become better aware of their thoughts, emotions and behaviours using proven strategies. Micaela uses play to connect, communicate and teach.
As a parent, you play an important role in the therapy process. Micaela will also work with you so that you can also develop skills to support your child’s growth and development outside of the therapy room.
Experience: Micaela is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Regina. She has experience working in children’s programming in the school setting, and has supported families through her work in the public sector for over 5 years.
Committed to ongoing learning and development, she is also a graduate student in the Master of Social Work program at the University of Regina.
Client Focus: Children and their caregivers
Types of therapy: CBT and play based interventions
