Social Learners - Group Therapy
For kids who want to go from socially awkward to socially aware
This group is designed for ages 8-11 who are neurotypical or neurodivergent (ADHD, social communication learning disorder, social anxiety, twice exceptional, autism levels 1 and 2) with solid language, cognitive, and learning abilities.
Social thinking is more than just social skills! It is the basis of how we interact with ourselves, interact with others, determine appropriate behaviours at home, school and in the community. Basically, it helps us to understand our own and others’ experiences, including thoughts, beliefs, intentions, emotions, knowledge and actions in the context of the situation.
The Social Learners’ group will help your child…

Become a social detective: learn to observe and interpret what’s going on in your environment.

Increase social awareness: be better able to read social situations.

Practice perspective taking: consider how others around you might be thinking or feeling.

Become a flexible thinker: Explore social strengths and challenges and consider various possible solutions to a problem, or various outcomes for a situation.

Increase skills of self-regulation: learn strategies to adapt their thinking and behaviour to various social situations.
Equip your child to engage in day to day situations with confidence and skillful social awareness!
Parents join for the last 30 minutes of each session to learn the concepts and how to help your child practice the skills at home between sessions.
Group Details
Duration
Each group session lasts 90 minutes including 30 minutes of parent involvement.
Curriculum
This 12 week program provides a motivating and creative way for children to explore Social Thinking ® concepts while increasing their knowledge of social expectations, their awareness of their own thinking and behaviour, and how to modify their thinking and behavior with flexible strategies.
Intake Assessment
Prior to group placement, we conduct an intake assessment to ensure the best fit for you and your child's unique needs and goals. This valuable assessment allows us to tailor the group experience accordingly.
Group Pricing
$75 per 90 minute group session.
